FUNERAL ORATION OF THE LATE MRS. ROSE ABENA AMOAKO, POPULARLY CALLED CECE ABENA.
Mrs. Rose Amoako born Rosina Abena Sakyiabea Asante was born on the 16th of May, 1944 at Akropong to her parents Opanyin Kwasi Darte and Obeapanyin Patricia Ayebea both of blessed memory.
Sisi Abena is a Christian baptised and confirmed as a Presbyterian and an active member of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana and The Presbyterian Women’s Fellowship.
Sisi as she was affectionately called by family and friends began her basic school education at the Presbyterian Primary School, Daakye also known as Presby Junior School.
Sisi then continued with her middle school education at the Dawu Presbyterian Middle School.
She then completed her education at the Presbyterian Girls School in Akropong.
Sisi Abena was a very industrious woman. She began trading in petty goods which included bowls, plates, cups, cooking wares and cutleries.
In the year 1963, Sisi Abena gave birth to her first child Patience Endurance Amoako and subsequently her other three children, Janet, Samuel and Doris Amoako
She was married to her husband The Late Rtd. Chief Superintendent Samuel Amoako Nyante a Police Officer.
Sisi nurtured her children to be good and faithful Christians inculcating into them good and godly values. Sisi toured with her husband Mr. Amoako to several places taking along the children to wherever he was posted as a Police Officer. They moved from Takoradi, to Krobo Odumase then to Koforidua, to Teshie to Kanda then to Korle-bu and then to Obuasi, Takoradi, Wenkyi and then to their final posting point in Accra where they retired.
Sisi and her husband moved from Mamprobi in Accra to settle at Akropong until the demise of her husband the Late Rtd. Chief Superintendent Samuel Amoako Nyante. Before the demise of her husband she was met with a big blow as her eldest child Patience Endurance Amoako met her untimely death. Sisi was subsequently faced with several hurtful and trying times. She lost three of her children rendering her traumatised which affected her health and subsequently her vision.
Sisi took ill and had several treatment. After a while, she was overtaken by the ailment and became immobile. Her family and children never gave up on her because she was the only surviving mother. Quite unfortunately Sisi peacefully gave up the ghost on the 26th of April, 2025 after several hours of heavy downpour.
Sisi Abena will be remembered for her selfless dedication, love and sacrifices towards her family, children, grand-children and the church.
